The 79th Annual Meeting of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) was held in Lucerne, Switzerland in June 1 to 3, 2011, with the theme of “International symposium on Dams and Reservoirs under Changing Challenges”, and the Annual Seminar topics of “Long-term behavior of dams”, “Dams and climate change”,“Dams and natural hazards”and “Dams in a sound environment”. More than 600 experts from more than 80 countries around the world attended the meeting.
Director Fan Beilin and Mr. Huang Renyong from CRSRI were invited to the meeting. During the meeting, they not only discussed and exchanged with other participants, but also publicized the research fields and scientific research strength of CRSRI.
The International Commission on Large Dams referred to ICOLD, founded in 1928, is currently composed of 90 national committees. The General Assembly is held every three years and the annual meeting is held once a year. It not only provides a platform for information exchange, but also serves as an access to enter international market. The ICOLD is the highest level academic organization in dam construction around the world.
