If
you have an option to buy an extended service contract with your next,
new, big screen or plasma TV, study average repair costs before turning
the contract down. Industry average repairs for tube projection TV
repair is near $400. LCD projection TV’s will require at least
a $250 lamp every two years. Plasma TV replacement boards alone average
$800 each. Take the time to read the contract to see what’s
actually covered and for how long.

all universal replacement remote control units will operate the programming
functions or special features of your DVD recorder or surround sound
system. General purpose replacement camcorder batteries may not be
recognized as “smart” by your camera. Damaged projection
screens are common but you don’t have to put up with the aggravation
of watching your movie through the scratches. We accept credit card
phone orders for electronic accessories and have the supply department

Chemical
compounds from tobacco smoke damage electronic equipment. When our
technicians work on a smoker’s product, the insides are coated
with a film of brown mess. Projection TV’s sometimes require
hours to get clean of cigarette gunk because the screens, lens and
mirror must be dismantled before cleaning. Modern LCD and DLP projection
televisions also have lamp fans that get fouled and become noisy from
smoke residue. Never buy a used PTV that was used in a barroom! Smoke
residue coats and shortens the useful life of optical drives such
as DVD and CD players. It coats the mechanical parts of VCRs, tape
decks and floppy drives. It deteriorates the lubricants in small camcorder
motors and pulleys and shortens the life expectancy of rubber rollers
and belts. Airborne smoke residue deposits itself everywhere nearby
and develops into damaging carbon paths on critical electronic circuit
boards. This may not be the best reason to avoid smoking, but consider
this damage problem if you have any respect for your fine audio mixing
board, amplifier or big TV.
